The Kolden Report: Frost Kissed.

 Hello, kids!

I find myself watching winter melt into spring.  Mornings come seeping sooner over the horizon and evening sinks more slowly into night.  Days are sunny but frost kissed with only a whisper of winter.

That being said, I must get winter's images out!  Enjoy....

The Kolden Report: Love of Winter.

Hello, kids!

I really love snow and ice images.    The peace, quiet, cleanliness and serenity of snow laden landscapes really speaks to me. 

Enjoy a glimpse of winter...



How can a fragile leaf appear so strong?

I love the calm "busy-ness" of this.

Ice jams appear peaceful but in reality are quite the opposite.

I wonder how much is below the surface, hidden from view?

I love this.  To me, this feminine weed has her fluffy white hooded cape around her shoulders.

 



This masculine weed, also sports a dashing cape of snow.

The Kolden Report: Let it SNOW!

                    Hello, kids!

Life is good in my camp.   I'm learning how to make liquid hand soap with essential oils.  Next comes shampoo, laundry and dish soap.    Why not?  Meanwhile, pots of soup simmer on the stove.  And life is good...

Now, the report!

Sky fire.

They don't get much cuter....

Silver sheen.

Flakes.

Clinging.

I find myself fascinated with crystalline frost.

Weed wonder.

This is one of my new favorites.  It's very clean and serene.  Light and bright.  (And white!)

I'm always amazed at how the frost coats and clings.

The Kolden Report: Montana Moments. Call of the wild - revisited.

Hello, kids!

Best wishes for a peaceful,  healthy and happy 2016! 

Meanwhile, back in Montana...

We made our mostly annual trek to Sipary Ann Creek to view the elk.

I have much fun watching the people watch the elk!  (These Minnesota boys are SERIOUS about their photography, no?)

It was fairly early and folks jockeyed for position in hopes that the "BIG ONE" would come close enough for a Kodak Moment.

Not to be disappointed, the elk began to move.

Bugling bulls are quite entertaining!

Bulls were calling and rushing about, herding sometimes uncooperative cows, thrashing the brush with their racks and fighting.

Apparently, we had chosen our viewing area wisely as another photographer joined in.

This was the moment we'd all come to see.  Hundreds of elk pouring out of the dense Missouri River bottom brush.

This herd bull - flora hanging from his rack, bellers and herds his group,  ever watchful under the constant threat of stolen cows.

And YES, the spectators were enjoying the show!

The cows and calves were mostly interested in grazing.

Lone bulls called and circled, hopeful that a cow would stray.

Fringe competitors were plentiful.

Constant bugling.

The smacking of racks could be heard as other bulls called and called and called.

The photographers were getting serious!
