The Kolden Report: Drive about, Continued.

Happy New Year, Kids!

Here's to a happy and healthy 2017 for you all.  Thanks for coming along for the ride with us!  It's been wonderful and we look forward to what comes next.   

Now, back in Wyoming..

Burst forth.



Red wall fascination.



Outlaw cave, here we come!  (The cave was rumored to house outlaws in hiding.)  We were anxious to see it although it would require a hike into a canyon and fording a river.)



Wyoming is loaded with antelope.  It was fun to see the herds, gathered for mating.



We also found ourselves fascinated with the "Red Wall".  It so reminded us of Monument Valley in Arizona.



To get to the cave, we had to pass by the "Hole in the Wall Ranch".  Access to much of the land in the area was off limits, sadly.  





Fencing the wall, poses a challenge!



We saw many a buck in hot pursuit of a potential girlfriend.



Testosterone laden bucks paid little attention to us as they went about their business.



Big country, lots of game.



Bucks on the move, everywhere we looked!



Some of the flora was unfamiliar to me.  

Wild succulents, post bloom...clinging to stone.  (I am not sure what the little green dot is in the upper right.)

We had bumped over the roughest trails ever, for miles, in search of the cave.  On one short hike, I caught my foot on something, tore my toe open  and jammed my camera lens into the dirt during the fall.  My bloody toe has healed but my camera still bears the scar.  I took this rainbow as a sign that good things would follow.

We had found the canyon, now to find the cave.



With nightfall upon us, the cave would have to wait.

We made camp along the canyon rim, under a painted sky.



 I got out my low light lens.  



Not bad for night shooting!

The Kolden Report: Drive-about.

Hello, kids!

Many thanks to all who came out to the bazaar in Wolf Point.  It was such a pleasure to see you and your support means much.  Congratulations to the winners in my "Give Back" drawings, particularly the youngster who signed up unbeknownst to her Grandmother!


For those of you who are interested, I have a handful of calendars left.  They are $30 each, first come first served.  I can deliver locally or ship for an additional $7.

The country west of Kaycee, Wyoming is rich in history.  Jim had always wanted to tour it.  Why not?

Hat Ranch.

Rattle snake.  (We coaxed it off the road)

Curiosity.

Sage stare.

Weatherings, almost appear "petroglyphic".   

"All you need is love!"

Smoke rings.  (We suspect military maneuvers.  Showing off either way!)

Distance.

Black tail.

Spire.

Visitor.

"Speed goats".

The Kolden Report: It's THAT time of year again!

Hello, kids!

BUSY life in my camp.  But I can't complain!  I'm overjoyed to have my parents close by and I wouldn't trade this time with them for the world.  As such, much of my free time is spent with them but we manage to sneak out a bit now and then for a "fix" in Mother Nature.  More on that in a minute. 


Noteworthy, is the upcoming Optimist Bazaar on Saturday (YES, THIS Saturday) at the Wolf Point High School gym.  It's from 9-3 and lunch is available as well as Candy by the pound from the Optimists and a whole host of hand crafted and re-purposed goodies to name a few.

 I'm feverishly preparing new works and I have a treat for you Chevy fans.  I won't spoil the surprise though....you'll have to come out and see!   I have a variety of print types and sizes as well as calendars and cards for gifting.   As a new way of giving back, I'm offering  25% off of all of last year's inventory.   Mom and Dad will be helping me as well as sister Cindy so stop by and say hello to us all.  Be sure to sign up for my many "Give Back" prizes!

And now, some glimpses of our lovely fall...

Have I told you that I NEVER tire of the view from my window?  (and of course you can see why, right?)

Water fascination.  (Yes, I have a thing for water.   Droplets, drips, torrents, streams, puddles, pools....I love it all.)

Imperfect perfection.  (And how cool is that matching polka dot bug?)

Ride 'em, cowboy!  (  I think these may be some type of false lady bug?)

I was quite fascinated by the comings and goings on the odd brown growth.

The bigger picture.



And then I saw it!  The central area of this odd growth was PACKED with bugs. 

Had I not stopped to investigate the odd brown growth, I'd never have seen the home for false lady bugs. 

A bit farther on down the sand bar, in the willows, this lovely fungi!
