The Kolden Report: Lone Wolf First Annual Cross Country Race. Round five of the Montana Series. Around the pond.

Hello, kids!

Back at the moto-cross track....

Comin' in hot...

Giving 'er the ONION.

Old glory....(and how a still the sense of motion.)

Passing lane.  (Riders would be a bit surprised at being passed but that's the intrigue of running class A and B racers all at once.)

The dam crossing was little more than a cow trail in tall sage.  Some riders were more cautious than others in their approach.

YEE-HAW!  (Other riders would perform for the camera.....I'm thinking class A rider?)

This guy  has been in the mud!

I was glad to see they were hydrating during the race.  Not only was it warm out but several hours of hard riding....that's physical!  (Remember the shots of the STEEP hill?)

This rider is serious.  Helmet cam, covered in mud....riding hard.  And likely having a BALL doing it.

An ounce of prevention....

Another surprise pass, I'd say.  But who wants to eat dust, anyway?

No matter how hard you ride, someone is always going to be breathing down your neck.

Another class A rider, I should think.  It was rewarding to see them pop one for the camera!

Goggles on backward?  Hope he's NEVER following anyone.

The Kolden Report: Lone Wolf First Annual Cross Country Race. Round five of the Montana Series.

Hello, kids!

If any of you in the Wolf Point or Glasgow area drinks pop in two liter bottles, could you save them for me?

I'm still way behind but plugging away.  As you can see, this event happened in July when Wolf Point hosted a passel of racers.  Here is the report!

Augured in for the weekend.

A closer look.

Pre-race ride.

It's all in the family.  (Fast's)

Pre-race ablutions.

Where it  begins.

On a mission to....????

Riders leave their bikes at the starting line on stands and hitch a ride back to camp.

"Official" starting line.

Pre-race meeting.

Not just a young man's sport.

Pre-race rivalry?

Spectator sport.

Race "Official".

Getting ready to ride.

Getting ready to watch.

And they are OFF!  (This was both class A and B racing and I believe the A racers were started first.)

Didn't take long to see why you want to be in the lead!

There was a dust up at the first creek crossing.  I was hoping for minimal injury.

First corner.

UP out out of the creek!

It LOOKS  fun....

But the first hill separates the men from the boys.  Two routes were easier than this.

Sometimes, it didn't go so well.  (Keep in mind, these are the expert riders!)

The alternate route was not as steep.  Even if longer, sometimes it was faster.

And then....the second string takes to the field!

Moral support?  (Things were pretty relaxed in sister Cindy's pasture, after all.)

Race official taking the "easy" way up the gnarly hill.  (Yes, he's airborne.)

Triple play.

Hello there.

A bit of sage along the pond.

Some had helmet cams to record the fun.
