The Kolden Report: Birds, birds, everywhere! June 18, 2012

Hi, kids!

Another big week has come and gone.  Yard sale #2 went just as smoothly as #1, fortunately.  Had good help this time.   Thanks to all of you savvy bargain shoppers for making my sales such a success!   Yard sale #3 is in the works for Saturday 9-2.  Stay tuned for details and a listing of items for this sale.

Now, the report!

Have you ever REALLY watched a bird bathing in a puddle?

First, you wash your face.

Then, your behind.

Under the arms.

Hit the face again for good measure.

Give it all a good rinse.

Finish with another rinse.  Feels so good!

Green, green fields of home.

Flock mentality.  (Seems sort of early?)

Pelican pod.

Misty morning.

We have resident hawks.  Every morning, when I leave for work, I try to shoot them as they fly from this very pole.  Every day, I try to  capture the perfect shot.

Sometimes, I catch an alright shot.

They fly closer to me, each day.  It's become a game.  Maybe tomorrow will the day....

DIVE-bomber.

Rooster perch.

I wondered if the air was rough?

Blooming cactus, home to ants.

Yucca pods.

Up close and personal.

Puffball mushroom.

Wild flower.

Magnificent Missouri morning.

Stormy skies.

You might think these three were friendly but that was not the case.  The little birds were harassing the hawk.

The hawk screamed as it flew.

Blackbird kept pace with the hawk.

Then, WHAM!  The much smaller black bird dives right into the hawk!

Duck days of summer.

Party line.

Red bottom tepee

Boaters dream.

Falcon eye.

A closer look.

Bird on a wire?

Fort Peck hotel's south entrance.

Fort Peck hotel's River Valley Traders gift shop, spills out into the hallway.  (Love those hard wood floors!)

River  Valley Traders offers an amazing array of arts, crafts,  jewelry, new and vintage gifts, edibles and now....
the works of Kitty Kolden!

Here is one of the gift shop proprietors, Elizabeth.  Stop in and see Elizabeth or her partner Nancy  if you are in Fort Peck.  River Valley Traders is open Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Magic morning.
