We drove the sandbar a few weeks ago and were amazed at the thick stand of young cottonwoods growing where water ran forcefully just a year ago.
Some areas are still blown bare by the winds but if each of these tiny cottonwoods survives the beaver assaults....the trees will be THICK.

I love this shot....think it's the green stripe or the dark curving shadow of the winrow...or maybe the golden beards on the wheat.
This crop is VERY tall.
