We took a short river trip in "Old Smokey" this weekend. While paddling on the river, we spotted this mamma duck and her brood.
A bir farther downriver, this hawk screeched from the treetops as we passed by.
Driving in to town I spotted this rooster in the alfalfa, who held for his picture.

While watering my flower bed I discovered toads on the sidewalk.
Apparently they do not like crisp, cold water on their bodies! They burrow down in the sandy soil and escape the heat but boy, turn the water on and watch them crawl "out of the woodwork"!
Sunrise today. The days are getting shorter. The sun doesn't come up until shortly after 5 a.m. now.
